Lake James

Lake James, with 150 miles of shoreline, is a beautiful mountain lake nestled at the entrance to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Large coves offer glass smooth water for skiing or wakeboarding. Largemouth Bass, four-foot Muskie and abundant Crappie can be caught by the youngest of fisherman. Known as one of cleanest lakes in America, Lake James offers views of surrounding Grandfather Mountain and Shortoff Mountain which is one the most challenging rock faces in America to hike or climb. Lake James flows into Lake Hickory which flows into Lake Rhodhiss which flows into Lake Norman which flows into Mountain Island Lake. From Lake James to Mountain Island Lake in Charlotte you can reach five lakes in a little over and hour.
